LHI Group takes over another wind farm in Germany for Versicherungskammer

28. July 2025

Portfolio expanded to include wind farm with five modern wind turbines in Freienohl, North Rhine-Westphalia

The LHI Group and the Versicherungskammer Group have further strengthened their sustainable investment strategy with the acquisition of a new wind farm.

The wind farm in Freienohl, town of Meschede, Hochsauerland district in North Rhine-Westphalia, comprises five high-performance Nordex N133 wind turbines with a total output of 24 MW and benefits from a 20-year constant feed-in tariff. Construction of the park began at the end of 2022 and the last turbine was successfully commissioned in February 2025. The electricity generated is sufficient to supply around 17,700 two-person households annually, saving around 18,900 tons of CO2 compared to the conventional electricity mix.

The innovative serrations, serrated trailing edges on the rotor blades, effectively reduce noise emissions and noise pollution for humans and animals. They help to preserve natural habitats and protect the environment.

Sebastian Schweier, Head of Infrastructure Investments at the Versicherungskammer Group, explains: “Our investments in the field of renewable energies underline our commitment to future-proof and sustainable solutions. We strive to combine economic success with significant environmental progress by actively contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions while offering our customers stable returns. This long-term plan demonstrates our responsibility towards the environment and society, which is why we will continue to increase our investments in infrastructure in the future.”

By investing in a proven technology with an attractive feed-in tariff, we can further accelerate the transformation process in German energy policy,” says Dieter Seitz, Managing Director of LHI Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaft mbH. This project was successfully realized in cooperation with the established project developer ABO Energy, which specializes in renewable energies and is responsible for technical operations management. Dieter Seitz continues: ” The LHI Group took over the project at the start of construction and provided intensive support throughout the entire construction phase. This close cooperation ensured a smooth process and successful completion.

In total, LHI manages 35 solar and wind parks as well as 5 hydropower plants with a total nominal output of approx. 494 MW/MWp in the renewable energies portfolio for Versicherungskammer.
