LHI Group acquires innovative solar parks with storage systems in Germany for Versicherungskammer

Both solar parks were awarded the contract as part of the innovation tender.

The LHI Group and the Versicherungskammer Group have acquired two pioneering solar parks with storage systems, thereby continuing their sustainable investment strategy. Both projects were awarded the contract as part of an innovation tender by the Federal Network Agency. The projects involve a solar park in Gammertingen, located approximately 60 km south of Stuttgart, and a solar park in Letschin, approximately 65 km east of Berlin.

Together, the solar parks achieve a total nominal output of 31.4 MWp and a storage capacity of 19.6 MWh. This means that around 13,000 two-person households can be supplied with clean electricity every year and around 13,300 tons of CO2 can be saved.

A particular advantage of the projects is the EEG innovation remuneration guaranteed by the Federal Network Agency for twenty years, which, together with the feed-in tariff, ensures stable and predictable income.

“The two innovative solar parks with storage capacity enable the green electricity produced to be supplied as needed and address the increased volatility in the electricity market”, says Sebastian Schweier, Head of Infrastructure Investments at Versicherungskammer Group. “This not only allows us to generate attractive and stable returns for our customers, but also contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and stabilizing the electricity grids and electricity prices.”

“The interplay between the generation and storage of green electricity offers further potential for accelerating the energy transition in Germany and Europe. In addition, the five-year power purchase agreement concluded with a major electricity supplier from the DACH region ensures a stable remuneration structure.” says Dieter Seitz, Managing Director of LHI Capital Management GmbH.

In total, LHI manages 34 solar and wind farms and five hydroelectric power plants with a total rated output of approximately 470 MW/MWp in the renewable energy portfolio for Versicherungskammer.
